SAA codeshare with Ghana Int’l
South African Airways has reached a codeshare deal with Ghana International Airways (GIA).
GIA will place its “G0″ Code on SAA’s proposed Johannesburg – Accra – New York JFK flight, which will go into effect from January 2008. This flight will be 4 weekly service and SAA is seeking 5th freedom traffic rights on this route.
EgyptAir to be 21st Star member
Coincides with the announcement, the opening of Cairo Airport new Terminal 3, due 2008, will see all Star Alliance members moving to the new terminal, along with Egypt Air, part of the alliance’s “Move Under one Roof” concept.
EgpytAir’s entry to Star gives Star stronger presence in Middle East and Northern African region.
The Star Alliance network coverage, including existing 17 members, as well as future members – Air China, Shanghai Airlines, Turkish Airlines, EgyptAir – will expand to 944 destinations in 161 countires, operating over 17700 daily flights. EgyptAir alone will being 9 new destinations to the alliance.
Skybus shuffles axing Bellingham and San Diego
Skybus will cancel service between Columbus OH and Bellingham WA from 06JAN08 and between Columbus OH and San Diego on 07MAR08.
The decision is due to high fuel cost.
2 Daily flights to Burbank is will be downsized to 1 daily from 06JAN08.
However it is boosting service to Greensboro, Punta Gorda/Ft. Myers.
AA to Moscow in 2008
American Airlines today announce the launch of Daily 767-300ER service between Chicago and Moscow Domodedovo, effective 02JUN08.
