Brussels Airlines codeshare to Chennai
Brussels Airlines will codeshare with Jet Airways on the latter’s new flight between Chennai – Brussels eff 30OCT07.

China Airlines to codeshare with CSA Czech
Taiwan’s CAA first opened the application process on Thursday (25OCT07), allowing all 4 domestic/regional carriers, as well as EVA Air to apply. However, no application was received. Although suffered a major accident in August, China Airlines was allowed to submit application.
According to the application, China Airlines plans to codeshare with CSA Czech Airlines on the latters’ Frankfurt – Prague, as early as April 2008.
Taiwan and Czech Republic recently signed a new bilateral air deal which passenger flights is allowed to operate up to 14 weekly flights with unlimited carriers. Both cargo and passenger flight will enjoy full 5th-freedom traffic rights as well.
Japan Asia Airways to cease operation; ANA to Taiwan
This means JAL’s subsidiary, Japan Asia Airways/JAA, will cease operation after 32 years in service.
The deal also includes all Taiwanese carriers will be able to fly charter service to Japan, 5th freedom rights between Osaka and 1 point in US for Taiwanese carrier.
Japan Asia Airways was established in 1975 under the political pressure from China, to ensure JAL Group maintain its presence in Taiwan while it flies to China. ANA is using its domestic subsidiary Air Nippon/ANK for Taiwan service since 1994.

BA offloads Loganair/GB Airways; latter to easyJet
British Airways today announced it’s plan to offload GB Airways and Loganair as British Airways’ franchise carriers, claiming both has outlived their purpose.
easyJet on 25OCT07 announced acquisition of GB Airways.
The offloading means GB Airways will no longer be BA’s franchise from 26MAR08 as easyJet will take over, and Loganair franchise ends on 25OCT08. BA will pursuit codeshare agreement with Loganair, however.
As a result, BA will start its own operation from London Heathrow to Faro and Malaga; London Gatwick to Faro, Gibraltar, Ibiza, Malaga, Palma, and Tunis eff 30MAR08.
Cathay 10 weekly 77W to JFK
Cathay Pacific’s Hong Kong – New York will be getting 10 weekly 777-300ER service eff 02DEC07.
CX830/831 starting 02DEC07 will be operated by 777-300ER on Day 357, while Day 1246 continues to be operated by A340-600.

China Eastern applies new routes
China Eastern has applied for 2 new international routes with the CAAC, which is planned for November/December 2007 launch.
It applies 3 weekly Sanya – Moscow from November 2007, onboard A330/340 or B787, as well as 2 weekly Beijing – Nanjing – Tokyo, onboard A320/321/330 or B737.
Shanghai Hongqiao – Seoul Gimpo takes off 28OCT07
Flight between Shanghai Hongqiao Airport and Seoul Gimpo Airport takes off on 28OCT07 as 2 carriers from each side – ASIANA, Korean Air, China Eastern, Shanghai Airlines – will be operating this route.
Due to the request by Chinese government over the congestion at Shanghai Hongqiao Airport, the flight schedules are being re-timed to afternoon flight, and ASIANA has switched from 767 to A321.

SIA A380 TAKES OFF
Singapore Airlines on 25OCT07 marks the new chapter in the world aviation history as it becomes the first operator to operate commercial service on board Airbus 380-800.
SQ380, planned to take off from Singapore 0800LT on 25OCT07 and scheduled to arrive Sydney 1725LT. Return flight, also SQ380, departs Sydney 1600LT 26OCT07 and arrives Singapore 2215LT.
On 25OCT07, the flight left the gate at 0759LT, and estimate to arrive at 1710LT.
