ANA continues EU codeshare expansion

Effective 01DEC07, ANA’s European codeshare expansion will enter wave number 4 as it will be placing its NH code on the following flight operated by Lufthansa:

China Southern Airlines joins Skyteam

China Southern Airlines has become the first mainland chinese carrier to join a global alliance – Skyteam, on 15NOV07.
The participation gives Skyteam’s numbers of cities served expands to 841 cities.

China Airlines’ Houston/Seattle flight up in the air

China Airlines’ flight on the Taipei – Seattle – Houston is in jeopardy as media reports the airline is suspending the service, and it is not bookable for flights after Feburary 2008.
However the airline insists it has not yet make any decision on the fate of this route.

nwa eyes Asia link for Memphis, relaunch NY-Tokyo

During a press conference held on 13NOV07 in Tokyo, nwa CEO quote his airline will be receiving 1st Boeing 787 in Feburary 2009, which will help the airline to expand flights to Japan, which will includes the relaunch of Tokyo – New York, as well as the first ever nonstop flight to Tokyo (Asia, in general) from Memphis.

nwa plans Vietnam service

nwa NORTHWEST AIRLINES has expressed its interest to operate service to Vietnam through Tokyo Narita.
However, no exact timetable were given about when it will launch the flight.

SIA Cargo to operate 7th freedom out of Brussels

A landmark revision between Singapore and Belgium government on the cargo service, which gives SIA Cargo 7th freedom rights to operate out of Brussels.
SIA Cargo has launched service between Brussels and Chicago since 01NOV07 which, for the first time, able to pick up and drop off cargo on this sector solely.

Effective 14JAN08, Singapore Airlines will increase service to Milan & Barcelona to daily flight, from current 4 weekly service.

AiRUnion to join Star and operate 787: Report

Russian media reports that AiRUnion has concluded the talk with Star Alliance for the participation of the world’s largest airline network. Not exact timetable of application and participation is given.
The airline group of KrasAir, Domodedovo Airlines, Samara Airlines, Sibaviatrans and Omskavia, has tied up with Lufthansa and Austrian.
Another carrier, ROSSIYA, is in talks with Star as well as Skyteam and oneWorld for the membership.
Separately, it has been reported that AiRUnion will be the first Russian operator of Boeing 787. It has began initial talk with CIT Aerospace for the purchase of 6 planes, to be delivered in 2013, a year ahead of AEROFLOT and S7. It has also concluded the deal to purchase 6 737 from CIT as well.

Austrian installs Biz Class on A320

Austrian has announced it’ll be installing business class seats on 4 of its A320 fleet by September 2009, which will be designated for flights to middle east and central asia, gradually increasing its competition in the region.
There will be 24 business class seats on the A320. Installation begins June 2008.
