China Airlines cuts Seattle frequency

Between 01JUL08 and 26OCT08, China Airlines’ 5 weekly Taipei – Seattle service will be reduced to 3 weekly.

QANTAS Group international capacity reduction

Due to high fuel cost accompanied by the announcement of capacity/frequency reductions of QANTAS Group, additional information for the cuts are the folloinwg.

*Japan, reduction from current 43 weekly to 29 by the end of the year (including jetStar)

  • Double Daily Tokyo – Cairns will be dropped from December 2008, replaced by jetStar Single daily
  • jetStar Nagoya – Osaka – Cairns will be canceled from December 2008
  • Tokyo – Melbourne 3 weekly canceled from September
  • Tokyo – Sydney reduced from 9 to 7 weekly from September
  • jetStar launching NEW Tokyo – Gold Coast route, it will begin 5 weekly service from October 2008

The QANTAS Group is projecting up to USD100million loss on Cairns international service for the entire FY2008, leading to the cancellation

*South East Asia

  • Cancellation of jetStar 3 weekly Sydney – Kuala Lumpur
  • Nonstop jetStar 3 weekly Sydney – Ho Chi Minh will be re-routed as Sydney – Darwin – Ho Chi Minh
  • QANTAS service on the Perth – Denpasar and Perth – Jakarta will be transferred to jetStar

*Long-haul

  • Sydney – Los Angeles will be reduced from 17 to 15 weekly with some flights operating with A380 Super Jumbo

Dragonair cancels Sendai schedule flight

Dragonair has decided it’ll not resume proposed seasonal scheduled service on the Hong Kong – Sendai route. The scheduled service has been converted to charter service since March.

The airline says due to low demand and lower-yield forecast this winter, it has decided not to operate scheduled service this winter.

During summer, it is operating 2 charter flights in May, 7 in June/July.
