Cathay Pacific on 30SEP08 operates the last Boeing 747-400 flight on the Hong Kong – Vancouver – New York on a regular basis.
Starting 01OCT08, Hong Kong – Vancouver is operated with Daily 777-300ER and Daily A340-300. Hong Kong – New York (including Vancouver stop) will be operated by Boeing 777-300ER only.
However, 747-400 may still be operating when required.
The Hong Kong-based carrier inaugurated the Vancouver route with Boeing 747-200 in 1983 and to New York with 747-400 (via Vancouver) in 1996.

Singapore Airlines today announced its sister company SilkAir, will begin operating service on the Singapore – Kuala Lumpur route starting 26OCT08.
Initially SilkAir/MI will operate 2 Daily flights while SIA operates 5. By 01DEC08, SilkAir will operate 4 Daily flights while SIA will operate 4 flights. Selected SilkAir flights will replace SIA existing service.
