SIA Summer 2009 Operation Preview
Singapore Airlines on 08JAN09 further updated its 2009 Northern Summer operation. Further changes expected.
Notable changes includes the following:
- Introduction of Airbus A330-300 aircraft on selected routes
- Singapore – Athens 3rd weekly flight begins from 12JUN09, 3 months later than usual
- Singapore – Bangkok 2 of 5 Daily sees aircraft swap from 777-200 to -300 from 01JUN09
- Singapore – Bengaluru Aircraft swap from 777-200 to -300
- Singapore – Cape Town Planned suspension from 01FEB09 to 01OCT09, extended to 25OCT09
- Singapore – Denpasar 4th Daily service extended till 28MAR09, but not operating after 29MAR09
- Singapore – Ho Chi Minh City Back to Triple Daily
- Singapore – Hong Kong Temporarily suspension of 1 of 6* Daily flights (*Incl. SQ002/001)
- Singapore – Jakarta to be operated by all B777-200 fleet only by August 2009
- Singapore – Dubai – Moscow from 01MAY09, it appears a new air route will be flown, leads to reduction of 1hr (average) flying time on Dubai – Moscow sector
- Singapore – Seoul reduction to 7 weekly from 01FEB09 to 02JUN09. Existing Daily SQ602/603 to be operated by 777-200, leaving Seoul once again 777 station
- Singapore – Shanghai 5th Daily seasonal flight returns
- Singapore – Zurich reduced from 14 to 12 weekly from 30MAR09 to 24JUN09

JAL Cargo/NCA to Cooperate on North American routes
JAL Cargo and Nippon Cargo Airlines (NCA) has reached a cooperating deal on the North American services.
Both carriers plans to offer joint-service on Los Angeles and Chicago route. Currently JAL Cargo operates a total of 10 weekly while NCA operates 16. Both sides are working on the operating frequencies and plans to streamlining the schedules.
JAL considering closing Upper Deck 747 seatings
According to Japanese media report, Japan Airlines is considering closing the sales of upper deck seats on its Boeing 747 fleet, as part of its latest cost-cutting effort
