Gulf Air to lease 777-300ER
According to report from Flight Global, Gulf Air is leasing 4 Boeing 777-300ER aircraft from Jet Airways. It plans to operate service to London as early as March this year. The 777s will be replacing some A340 and the airline expects to take all 4 this year, for 3-year lease
Bangkok, Kuala Lumpur and possible US East Coast operation is considered.
Gulf Air was an original launch customer of the Boeing 777 when the US manufacturer rolled out the aircraft in 1993 or 94, but never took delivery.
KLM brings 747-400PAX to Tokyo during Peak Summer 09
From 20JUL09 to 25SEP09, KLM’s Amsterdam – Tokyo route sees Boeing 747-400PAX operating 2 weekly, as per 13JAN09 Amadeus timetable display.

Continental today issued a codeshare renewal application to the US DoT for flights operated by Skyteam partner Air France, COPA and KLM.

ANA to cooperate with Oriental Air Bridge
ANA has issued a press release stating that it has reached a deal on cooperating with Japan’s local commuter carrier Oriental Air Bridge.
The cooperation will also cover codesharing, which ANA is to place its “NH” code on Oriental Air Bridge’s routes:

Taiwan – Shanghai CNY Charter: 45% flight cuts
Due to “slot issues” at Shanghai Pu Dong International Airports, Taiwanese carriers are being forced to slash planned Chinese New Year charter between Taiwan and Shanghai by 45%.
Taiwan’s Civil Aeronautics Administration issued a notice on 08JAN09 regarding the issues, while stating airlines are fully responsible as they went ahead for ticket sales before receiving regulatory approval.
The number of flights is being cut from 36 to 20.
As an alternative, flights will be operating into Hangzhou but airlines already stated that they will not be responsible for ground transfers
