DELTA expands checked-bag fee to International
DELTA today announced it will be expanding its checked-bag fee to international flights.
Effective today (21APR09), DELTA international service (includes nwa) from 01JUL09 will charge $50 for checking 2nd bag.

Dragonair halves Taipei capacity in May 09
Dragonair starting 06MAY09 to 31MAY09 will be reducing Hong Kong – Taipei service by 50%, with reduction from 4 to 2 Daily.
From Hong Kong, KA486 and KA488 will be cancelled.
From Taipei, KA489 and KA487 will be cancelled. Note KA487 cancellation is for 07MAY09 to 01JUN09

With the reduction, overall service is reduced from 15 to 11 Daily, in average.
EGYPTAIR 2 Daily to Istanbul
As per 21APR09 GDS timetable display, EGYPTAIR is operating Double Daily Cairo – Istanbul route this summer as originally planned. The airline briefly shelved the plan to increase from 9 to 14 weekly.

ANA eyes Sapporo Okadama pullout
According to Nikkei Net report issued on 15APR09, ANA Group is considering to consolidate its operation at Sapporo to New Chitose Airport.
ANA Group carrier Air Nippon Network (A-Net) currently operates 5 routes, 14 flights a day from Sapporo Okadama airport.
It cites low passenger number at the airport is one of the main factor. It also sees the benefits of not transferring between New Chitose and Okadama for passengers. It’ll also help the airline to achieve its cost-cutting goal.
However, Sapporo city Mayor strongly oppose the move, claims the city government will assist the airline to maintain these routes. It claims if ANA Group pulled out from Okadama, the airport is virtually “dead”, as JAL Group carrier HAC only operates 5 flights a day.
A-Net operates service to Hakodate, Nemuro-Nakashibetsu, Kushiro, Memanbetsu and Wakkanai from Okadama, and enjoys 80% market share.
Lufthansa all A346 from Munich to NY in Winter 09/10
As per 21APR09 GDS timetable display, Lufthansa’s Munich – New York JFK service from 24OCT09 sees Airbus A340-600 replacing A330-300.
During 2008/09 Winter, as per OAG Worldwide Flight Guide Dec 08, this route was served by A340-300.
Munich – Newark service continues with A340-600 for Winter 09/10 season as well
Lufthansa Munich – Tel Aviv available for 09/10 Winter
As per 21APR09 GDS timetable display, Lufthansa’s Munich – Tel Aviv service beyond 24OCT09 is now available to book.
Service will maintain 4 weekly during 2009/10 Winter timetable season
Korean scales back Vancouver increase
As per GDS timetable display on 21APR09, Korean Air has scaled back planned increase on the Seoul – Vancouver route.
It will only increase service to 5 weekly, instead of Daily. Effective immediately until 01MAY09, service does not operate on Day 24, then switches to Day 47 not operating
