As per GDS timetable display on 12MAY09, AEROFLOT’s planned new Moscow – Guangzhou service once again postponed.
Planned launch date, 03JUN09, is being pushed back to 25OCT09.
More DELTA West Africa changes: Ilha do Sal dropped
As per GDS timetable display on12MAY09, DELTA has once again shuffled its operation on the new service to Abuja and Monrovia.
DELTA IS TO CONTINUE TO OPERATE the following routing beyond September 2009:
3 weekly New York JFK – Dakar – Abuja
1 weekly New York JFK – Dakar – Monrovia
Planned switch from Sep 2009 to the following routing is shelved:
3 weekly Atlanta – Ilha do Sal – Abuja
1 weekly Atlanta – Ilha do Sal – Monrovia
With the change, DELTA has shelved its plan to service Cape Verde’s Ilha do Sal. Previously announced planned new service to Malabo and Luanda, also shelved.
US DoT final order on Hainan Airlines ops in USA
The US Department of Transportation on 11MAY09 issued a final order on Hainan Airlines’ foreign carrier permit to operate service to the US.
It states:
Hainan Airlines Co., Limited
A Foreign Air Carrier of the People’s Republic of Chinais authorized, subject to the following provisions, the provisions of Title 49 of the U.S. Code, and the orders, rules, and regulations of the Department of Transportation, to engage in foreign air transportation of persons, property and mail, as follows:
Scheduled foreign air transportation of persons, property, and mail between Beijing, People’s Republic of China and Seattle, Washington;
and
Charter foreign air transportation of persons, property, and mail between a point or points in the People’s Republic of China and a point or points in the United States.
This reinforced to the permit that was issued in 2007/08. Hainan Airlines has been seeking permission with China’s CAAC for permission to operate service to Hawaii (previously was Tianjin – Seoul – Honolulu but has switched to Beijing – Honolulu).
The latest final order actually comes from a dispute from DANA Liquidating Trust over payments of the Dornier 328JET issues back in 2000-2002, which can be found here (Docket 2007-0066). However, whether Hainan Air will be able to offer SCHEDULED SERVICE to Honolulu, appears to be in doubt even if it receives approval from CAAC.
DELTA to reduce Atlanta – Tokyo service from Oct 09
As per GDS timetable display on 12MAY09, DELTA is reducing Atlanta – Tokyo route back to 1 Daily from 11 weekly, starting 30SEP09.
The Boeing 777 service will be cancelled, while the Daily 747-400 using subsidiary nwa aircraft will continue.
