Air China/Air Canada begins codesharing

Air China and Air Canada starting today launches codeshare service, which will first cover Vancouver service. The codeshare agreement was supposed went into effect in March 2008 but was cancelled due to revenue issues.

Codeshare list is the following:

Korean Air new inventory code on 777-300ER

As per Korean Air’s inventory display, the airline is using the letter-code “R” and “J” class to represent the new generation First Class and Business Class (instead of “P” and “C”) on its Boeing 777-300ER fleet.

The 777-300ER is entering service with the airline on 02JUN09 on Seoul – Ho Chi Minh (but inventory code remains F and C) and then 03JUN09 Seoul – New York JFK.

Lufthansa A330/340 on Munich – NY JFK in Winter 09/10

As per GDS timetable display on 01JUN09, Lufthansa appears to have adjusted its planned Munich – New York JFK operation once again for 2009/10 Winter season.

Airbus A340-600 aircraft is to operate along with A330-300, which operates on Day x156.

EVA Air reduce Tokyo flights in Jun 09

As per GDS availability display on 01JUN09, EVA Air is reducing Taipei – Tokyo Narita from 03JUN09 to 13JUN09 from 2 to 1 Daily.

BR2196/2195 is being cancelled during this period

Ryanair cancel all Paris Beauvais flight 03JUN – 10JUN09

Due to essential runway works, Paris Beauvais airport is closed to all traffic from 03JUN09 to 10JUN09.

Ryanair, the biggest operator at the airport, will be not operating the service during this period

Norwegian to launch 6 new routes

Norwegian is launch the following new routes starting 17AUG09. However they are not yet loaded in the GDS.

BA drops Gatwick – New York JFK

British Airways will drop its 1 Daily London Gatwick – New York JFK service from 25OCT09 citing poor performance.

This probably explained how BA is able to launch 2 new long-haul routes that was announced last week without adding few extra long-haul aircraft at Gatwick this Winter.

BA will continue to operate 7 Daily service from London Heathrow. Planned 2 Daily service from London City remains a go-ahead, but still not available for bookings

EVA Air plans entire Winter 09/10 777 to Vienna

As per GDS timetable display on 01JUN09, EVA Air now showing Taipei – Bangkok – Vienna 3 weekly service all operated by Boeing 777-300ER for the ENTIRE 2009/10 Winter season.

Previously the airline only planned to operate 777 from 25OCT09 to 01JAN10

SAA retimes selected Perth service

As per GDS timetable display on 01JUN09, South African Airways is re-timing 1 of 5 weekly Johannesburg – Perth service from 03JUL09. Schedule is the following:

North Korea eyes Shanghai link

As per report from CARNOC on 01JUN09, an un-named North Korea’s tourism bureau official says they will begin talks with authorities in China of possibility opening new air link between Shanghai and Pyongyang. It is also considering charter service as well.

The first chinese tour group in Shanghai to North Korea completed their trip last week, and they had to transit through Shenyang in both directions

Mandarin increase Taipei – Kaohsiung service

Starting today Mandarin Airlines is increasing Taipei Sung Shan – Kaohsiung domestic service to 5 weekly from 3.

Originally the airline planned to operate Daily service.

This is the first time Mandarin is increasing service on this route. This route, during its peak, saw 7 airlines operating 89 daily service on weekdays and up to 98 on weekends

AerLingus ends Shannon – Chicago after 43 years service

As per GDS availability display on 01JUN09, AerLingus has Zero’d out all of the availability on the Shannon – Chicago route starting 01SEP09.

This represents the end of AerLingus’ service on this route after more than 43 years of service.

China Southern Airlines last week launched new service to Changbaishan in the Northeastern province of Jilin.

Garuda to add nonstop Jakarta – Tokyo from Oct 09

As per GDS timetable display on 01JUN09, Garuda Indonesia is introducing Jakarta – Tokyo nonstop service , effective 26OCT09

Per display, the nonstop service, operating Daily, complementing existing 1 Daily Jakarta – Denpasar – Tokyo. Schedule is below:
