Air China Frankfurt aircraft change Jul/Aug 09

As per GDS timetable display on 02JUN09, Air China’s Beijing – Frankfurt CA931/932 service sees aircraft changes from 01JUL09 to 31AUG09.

During this period, Day 135 on CA931/932 is operated by Airbus A330 instead of 747.

ANA / Virgin Atlantic inks codeshare deal

ANA and Virgin Atlantic today announced signing the codeshare agreement. Subject to government approval, both plans to launch codeshare service from 01AUG09 on Tokyo Narita – London Heathrow route.

This coincides with Virgin’s celebration of 20 years of service to Tokyo.

Both parties already have reciprocal FFP agreement as well as joint round-the-world air fare product

Taiwan designation for China Scheduled service

Taiwan’s Civil Aeronautics Administration (CAA) on 01JUN09 has announced the flight/frequency designations to the Taiwanese carriers for scheduled service to China.

Taiwanese carrier is able to operate up to 135 weekly flights. There will be 15 flights designated to carriers operating domestic routes that has the intention to operate under-performing (financial-wise) domestic routes.

The general designations are:
EVA Air 27
China Airlines 27
Transasia Airways 17
Mandarin Airlines 17
UNI Air 17

15 of the 120 weekly flights, which is likely intended to designate to the now-defunct Far Eastern Air Transport, is being split to all 5 carriers for the time being. Which means 5 carriers mentioned above will receive 3 extra weekly frequencies. Far Eastern Air Transport is currently under-going restructuring process. Once it is being certified to operate service again, it will receive these 15 frequencies.

The principal of the designation is the following:
*Carrier operating domestic routes gets the priority to choose 1 route to China (excludes Shanghai and Beijing)
*Hub airports – Beijing and Shanghai – is designated to China Airlines and EVA Air, to increase the competitiveness of the Taiwan hub.
*In order to ensure fair balance and growth, each carrier has the priority to choose service departing from airports excluding both airports in Taipei.

*Mandarin Airlines and UNI Air will operate alternately operating Taichung – Shenzhen every 3 months, but each carrier will lose 1 frequency from Taipei Taoyuan – Shenzhen when operating this service.

14 weekly scheduled cargo flights is designated to China Airlines and EVA Air. Each operates 3 weekly Taipei Taoyuan – Guangzhou and Taipei Taoyuan – Shanghai. 2 unused weekly frequencies is reserved as ad-hoc charter.

With these designations, 3 carries operating Taiwan domestic service promised it will continue to operate the following loss-making routes:
Mandarin Airlines Kaohsiung – Hualien, Taipei Sung Shan – Kaohsiung, Taipei Sung Shan – Taitung
Transasia Airways Taipei Sung Shan – Hualien, and new Taichung – Hualien
UNI Air Taipei Sung Shan – Hengchun, Taipei Sung Shan – Pingtung, Taipei Sung Shan – Taitung

These designation should go into effect from July 2009

China Eastern cancel some Shizuoka flights

China Eastern is cancelling 6 round-trip flights to Shizuoka this month, due to the effect of H1N1 Flu Virus.

The airline is cancelling service on following dates:
07JUN09, 10JUN09, 14JUN09, 17JUN09, 22JUN09, 28JUN09

Originally it plans to operate 4 weekly flights starting 05JUN09 (Day x246)
