Lufthansa launch Gabon service from July 2009

As per GDS timetable display on 09JUN09, Lufthansa is starting to launch service to Libreville in Gabon from 15JUL09.

The service will be a tag on from the recent-announced new NONSTOP Frankfurt – Accra service (starting 01JUL09). With the new service, original nonstop Accra service will be operated by A330-300 for 2 weeks, then upgrade to A340-600. The following is the schedule

Estonian Air plans Tartu – Stockholm from late-Aug 09

As per GDS timetable display on 09JUN09, Estonian Air is to start 4 weekly Tartu – Stockholm service from 24AUG09. With this route, Estonian Air is the 2nd carrier (airBaltic launching service from 03JUL09) to operate service into Estonia’s 2nd largest city.

The following is the schedule:

AVIANCA A330 to Barcelona from Jul 09

AVIANCA is introducing Airbus A330 aircraft on its Bogota – Barcelona service starting July 09.

The A330 operates on Day 3, while Day 157 service operates with 767-200

AVIANCA A320 to Miami

As per GDS timetable display on 09JUN09, AVIANCA is operating Airbus A320 aircraft on the following routes to Miami

Barranquilla – Miami Daily from 11JUN09
Cali – Miami Day x1

The airline’s Medellin – Miami, which currently operates with A320, is switching to larger capacity Boeing 757 from 11JUN09 to meet the peak travel season

AVIANCA cuts Mexico City capacity

As per GDS timetable display on 09JUN09, AVIANCA has temporary slashed its capacity on the Bogota – Mexico City service, which is being operated by Airbus A319 instead of 757/767.

The capacity decrease goes in effect until 06SEP09

AVIANCA New A320 routes

As per GDS timetable display on 09JUN09, AVIANCA is introducing Airbus A320 service on the following routes later this Summer.

The routes are the following:

Bogota – Aruba starting 02AUG09, A320 operates on Day 57

Bogota – Caracas 2 of 4 Daily with A320, starting 01AUG09 on following flights
AV066/069
AV078/079 (079 from 02AUG09)

Bogota – Panama City Starting 01AUG09
AV058/059 Daily
AV060/061 Day 34 only

These new A320 service replaces existing MD83 flight

Hewa Bora phase out 767; changes to Johannesburg

As per GDS timetable display on 09JUN09, it appears that Hewa Bora Airways has phased out Boeing 767-200 aircraft.

Also, since 03JUN09, it has made some changes to its service to Johannesburg .

Changes to the routes and schedules are the following:

*2 weekly Kinshasa (FIH) – Lubumbashi (FBM) – Johannesburg Boeing 767 service is being replaced by Boeing 727-200. Inbound service will terminate in Lubumbashi
*NEW 2 weekly Kinshasa – Johannesburg service operating with Boeing 757
*Previously used EO0xx flight number range has been switched to EO2xx

ETIHAD capacity increases in Summer

ETIHAD is increasing capacity on the following service for the summer peak season. Changes are:

Abu Dhabi – Athens 3 weekly A320 becomes 2 weekly A330-200 and 1 weekly A320. Note some selected weeks sees 2 A320 + 1 A332

Abu Dhabi – Islamabad 1 Daily A320 becomes:
320 Day 5
332 Day x5

Abu Dhabi – Karachi 1 Daily A330-200 becomes:
320 Day x237
332 Day 2
77W Day 37

Abu Dhabi – Lahore 1 Daily A320 becomes:
332 Day 56
345 Day x56

Note A320 and A340-600 is also operating on selected days in June.

Inbound service operates the following day, except Athens

ANA Solar Eclipse sight-seeing flight

ANA on 22JUL09 will operate 1-time only Solar Eclipse observation flight. The Solar Eclipse is due 22JUL09 and can be seen in Japan for the first time in 46 years.

ANA is operating a Boeing 777-200 aircraft operating to/from Kagoshima, which lasts approximately 2 hours circling around southern part of Kagoshima, but is subject to change. It will only sell a maximum of up to 193 seats only, mostly window seats for observation purposes

More EVA Air Japan reductions in Jun 09

EVA Air continues to adjust its capacity for Japan service as the airline continues seeing downfall of passenger traffic for the first 2 weeks of June. Changes are:

Taipei – Fukuoka Service further reduced to 3 weekly (Day 247), service back to 5 weekly from 14JUN09
Taipei – Nagoya Service cancelled on 09JUN09. The week of 08JUN09 operates 2 weekly only
Taipei – Osaka Service cancelled on 08JUN09

Taipei – Sapporo MD90 operating, replacing A330 until 18JUN09
BR116 TPE1010 – 1500CTS M90 x25
BR115 CTS1600 – 1910TPE M90 x25

SAS plans Tokyo – Harstad/Narvik (Evenes) in Jan – Mar 10

SAS is currently planning to operate Tokyo – Harstad/Narvik (Evenes) service between January and March 2010.

There will be 4 flights operating onboard the Airbus A340.

Earlier this year, SAS operated 1 flight only to Tromsø, in collaboration with Scandinavian Tourism Board to promote tourism in Northern parts of Scandinavia

THAI June European reductions

As per GDS timetable display on 09JUN09, THAI in the first 2 weeks of June is reducing selected European service.

Bangkok – Frankfurt
TG922/923 reduced to 5 weekly (Day x12), overall frequency down to 12. 14 weekly service to be restored by 24JUN09.

Bangkok – London Heathrow
TG916/917 reduced to 4 weekly (Day x234), overall frequency down to 11. 14 weekly service restores by 19JUN09

Emirates A380 to Paris from Jan 2010

As per GDS inventory display on 09JUN09, Emirates is to launch Airbus A380 service to Paris CDG starting 01JAN10.

A380 is replacing Boeing 777-300ER on the Daily EK073/074 flight.

EK075/076 continues to be operated a by 777-200 Day 57 and -300 on Day x57
