UNI Air to start Kaohsiung – Taitung charter
Due to the widespread flooding disaster across Southern Taiwan from Typhoon Morakot, UNI Air from 12AUG09 is to operate 3-month charter service between Kaohsiung and Taitung.
Rail and road transport between Kaohsiung and Taitung, that goes around Pingtung in the southern tip of Taiwan, is currently suspended due to loss of land foundation.

MAS to launch Melbourne via Jakarta
As per GDS timetable display on 11AUG09, Malaysia Airlines is launching 3 weekly Kuala Lumpur – Jakarta – Melbourne route from 15SEP09.
Service operates with Boeing 777. Overall service to Melbourne remains at 14 weekly as these 3 weekly flights comes at the expense of reduction of MH149/128. Overall service to Jakarta also remains at 5 Daily as 3 weekly service comes from the reduction of MH727/726 737-400 flight.

As per GDS timetable display on 11AUG09, Garuda Indonesia starting 11JAN10 is to operate NONSTOP Jakarta – Beijing service with Airbus A330-200, replacing 1-stop 737 service via Singapore.
