As per GDS timetable display on 12AUG09, ETIHAD is to operate Airbus A340-600 along with the -500 model on the new Abu Dhabi – Chicago route.

As per GDS timetable display on 12AUG09, ETIHAD is temporary reducing Abu Dhabi – Kuala Lumpur service to 6 weekly, from 03NOV09 to 02JAN10. Service on Day 2 is cancelled.
MAS Daily to Kaohsiung in Jan/Feb 10
As per GDS timetable display on 12AUG09, Malaysia Airlines is to increase service on the Kuala Lumpur – Kota Kinabalu – Kaohsiung route from 5 weekly to Daily, from 21JAN10 to 23FEB10.
Alaska to launch Portland OR – Chicago from Nov 09
As per GDS timetable display on 12AUG09, Alaska Airlines is starting 1 Daily Portland OR – Chicago service from 16NOV09. Service operates with 737-700.

Ryanair launches Leeds as 34th base from Mar 2010
Ryanair yesterday (11AUG09) announced the launch of 34th base in Leeds/Bradford. It will be basing 2 737-800s, allowing the airline to launch 14 new routes, starting March 2010.
It currently operates service to: Alicante, Dublin and Girona.
New destinations from Leeds/Bradford are:
Carcassonne, Faro, Ibiza, Knock, Krakow, Limoges, Malaga, Malta, Montpellier, Murcia, Nantes, Palma, Pisa and Venice Treviso
It predicts the launch of new routes will increase its traffic to 1 million passengers per annual at the airport.
THAI Middle-East changes for Winter 09/10
As per GDS timetable display on 12AUG09, THAI is adjusting following service in the Middle East for Winter 2009/10 season.
The changes sees a cut in capacity and frequencies to both Dubai and Kuwait City. It will begin a new weekly NONSTOP service to Muscat
Details as follows:
Bangkok – Dubai
Service reduce from 10 to 7 weekly from 25OCT09, TG515/516 cancelled.
Planned 4 weekly service resumption on the Chennai – Dubai sector, is shelved
The reduction of the flights can be seen as frequency transfer to Abu Dhabi, which it intends to resume.
Bangkok – Kuwait
Service reduce from 5 to 3 weekly, and aircraft changes from Airbus A340-600 to A330-300.
Note these changes were first posted on Sabre last week, but Amadeus system and THAI’s inventory display didn’t reflect the change until today.
Bangkok – Muscat
Effective 28OCT09, it’ll launch 1 weekly NONSTOP service in addition to existing 3 weekly flights via Karachi.

China Southern 4 weekly to Delhi in Winter 09/10
As per GDS timetable display on 12AUG09, China Southern Airlines is to operate 4 weekly service on the Guangzhou – Delhi route from 25OCT09, increasing from 3. (Service departs CAN on Day x146)
Originally it planned to operate Daily service.
brussels / El Al Codeshare termination
brussels airlines and El Al appears to be terminating their codeshare agreement starting 25OCT09.
As per GDS inventory display on 12AUG09, brussels airlines “SN” code on El Al service is on Zero’d out. El Al removed its “LY” code on brussels’ flight as well

Oman Air launching First Class service this Fall
Oman Air is introducing First Class service for the first time in its history, with the induction of Airbus A330-300 aircraft this fall.
Service to operate on Muscat – London Heathrow from 01OCT09, noted last week.
Air Mauritius changes to Perth from Dec 09
Air Mauritius from 01DEC09 is increasing Mauritius – Perth service from 1 to 2 weekly. In addition, schedules for Mauritius departure will be re-timed from daytime to night-time.

As per GDS timetable display on 12AUG09, THAI is to operate Boeing 747-400 only on the Bangkok – Hong Kong – Taipei service in 2009/10 Winter season.

airTran drops Newark; slot swap with Continental
Per report, airTran is to end service to Newark from 25OCT09. This comes after it has reached an apparent slot swapping deal with Continental.
airTran is swapping 10 slots in Newark with Continental, for 4 slots in New York La Guardia and 6 in Washing Reagan airport.
