Air India Final Boeing 747 service
Final Air India Boeing 747 service (-400) is currently scheduled for 23OCT09, Jeddah – Kozhikode – Calicut, AI962.
This is based on Air India’s system timetable listed on its website. This marks the end of Boeing 747 scheduled passenger operation with the airline (but may be used for unscheduled Hajj service) after 38 years of service.
Air India introduced received its First Boeing 747, a -200B (VT-EBD “Emperor Ashoka”) on 18APR71, which inaugurated first flight to London a month later.
JAL Winter charter to Fairbanks

As per 06OCT09 GDS Timetable display, Virgin Atlantic from 25OCT09 is to operate airbus A340-600 aircraft instead of Boeing 747-400 on its Daily London Heathrow – San Francisco service. A340-600 operates for the Winter 09/10 season, a slight change compared to 08/09 Winter (744).
