Lufthansa/brussels changes to Brussels – Germany

Starting 25OCT09, Lufthansa and brussels airlines is adjusting service between Germany and Brussels.

  • Lufthansa will takeover Frankfurt – Brussels and Munich – Brussels. brussels airlines service to Frankfurt remains 1 Daily, Munich is cancelled
  • brussels airlines will takeover Berlin Tegel – Brussels and Hamburg – Brussels. Lufthansa will end its own service

MEA to launch Baghdad service

Middle East Airlines (MEA) from 29OCT09 is launching 4 weekly Beirut – Baghdad service with Airbus A320. Currently the flight is only bookable through MEA’s inventory/direct connect display in the GDS.

Yemenia Drops all European routes

As per GDS availability display on 09OCT09, Yemenia is CANCELING ALL European service starting 25OCT09.

In Sabre, the flights are marked with X and displaying no availability.

The Yemeni carrier currently operates:

  • 2 weekly Sana’a – Rome – Frankfurt
  • 1 weekly Sana’a – London Heathrow
  • 1 weekly Sana’a – Cairo – London Heathrow

In timetable display, the airline is also loading  2 weekly Sana’a – Paris CDG, which is also being X’d out.

Ural Airlines expands Armavia codeshare

Ural Airlines has extended its codeshare deal with Armavia covering Ekaterinburg – Yerevan route.

Ural Airlines launch Samara – Baku & Yerevan

Ural Airlines has launched 1 weekly each on Samara – Baku and Samara – Yerevan route. The former was introduced since 25SEP09 while the latter was launched on 24AUG09.

Finnair 5 weekly to Toronto in Summer 10

As per GDS timetable display on 09OCT09, Finnair is planning to operate 5 weekly Helsinki – Toronto SEASONAL service in Summer 2010. In summer 2009, it operated 4 weekly and in 08 was 3 weekly.  Summer service begins from 06JUN10 to 09SEP10.

Austrian Summer 2010 Long-hauls

As per GDS timetable display on 09OCT09, Austrian has already tweaked its planned 2010 Summer operation. A numerous increase of flights will be offered starting in May 2010, to mostly in Middle East and Central Asia.

Pakistan International is to operate Boeing 777-200ER aircraft on 1 of 5 weekly Karachi – Dhaka service, starting 01NOV09.  Service operates on Day 1.

Air Canada Rome adjustment

As per 09OCT09 GDS timetable display, Air Canada’s Toronto – Rome route ends in 31OCT09. Originally the airline planned to operate service till 30NOV09.

Service resumes from 11MAR10, with 2 weekly flights.  Service increase to 3 weekly from 30MAR10.

Uzbekistan Cargo expands to Europe

Uzbekistan Airways Cargo has launched 3 weekly Navoi – Frankfurt service on 02OCT09.  It is also planning to start Navoi – Amsterdam with no confirmed timetable. It currently operates 2 Airbus A300-600 Freighter to Bangkok, Delhi and Mumbai.

Uzbekistan changes to UK and India in W09/10

Uzbekistan Airways is making minor adjustments on its UK and India service.

From 25OCT09, 2 of 3 weekly each of Tashkent – Amritsar and Tashkent – Delhi will be combined as

  • Tashkent – Amritsar – Delhi – Tashkent 1 weekly
  • Tashkent – Delhi – Amritsar – Tashkent 1 weekly
  • Remaining 1 weekly to each city will be turn-around flight

In the press statement, the airline says  it’ll resume service to Birmingham in the UK from 01DEC09, which operates in conjunction with London Heathrow:

  • 1 weekly Tashkent – London Heathrow – Birmingham – Tashkent (Day 2)
  • 1 weekly Tashkent – Birmingham – London Heathrow – Tashkent (Day 5)

KLM reduce Sao Paulo service

KLM is reducing Amsterdam – Sao Paulo service from daily to 6 weekly from 25OCT09 to  29MAR10.  Day 3 service is cancelled, as per 09OCT09 GDS timetable display

Garuda Indonesia 3rd weekly Jakarta – Shanghai

As of 09OCT09 GDS timetable display, Garuda Indonesia is operating 3 weekly Jakarta – Shanghai service in 2009/10 winter season.  It currently operates 2 weekly.  The new service operates from Jakarta on Saturdays.  Schedule as follows: Read more »

Vietnam Airlines retains 4 weekly Melbourne flight

Planned Vietnam Airlines’ 5th weekly Ho Chi Minh – Melbourne service in 2009/10 Northern winter season has been removed from the GDS availability and timetable display, as of 09OCT09.

It will continue to operate 4 weekly service.

Emirates aircraft switch for Luanda

Emirates’ new 3 weekly Dubai – Luanda service, scheduled to launch from 25OCT09, is now showing Airbus A330-200 operating, instead of Boeing 777-300ER.

Finnair shelves Mumbai resumption

Planned Finnair resumption service on the Helsinki – Mumbai route for Winter 2009/10 as seasonal flight, has been shelved, as per 09OCT09 GDS timetable display.

Originally the airline would operate 3 weekly service with Airbus A330-300.

US Airways postpone Rio de Janeiro to mid-Dec 09

Per GDS timetable and inventory display, US Airways once again is postponing Charlotte – Rio de Janeiro launch to 15DEC09.   The airline previously postponed to the same date but reversed.

Finnair drops Halifax nonstop ticket sales

As per GDS timetable display on 09OCT09, Finnair will go ahead with the planned 1 weekly SEASONAL Helsinki – Halifax – Miami service.  However, the airline has stopped the ticket sales and reservations on the Helsinki – Halifax sector, which means the Canadian airport  will now serve technical stop only.

As alternative, Finnair codeshares with American Airlines via New York JFK.

Finnair MD11 final flight: update 4

As per 09OCT09 GDS timetable display, Finnair once again adjusted planned MD11 final service.  Previously, final MD11 flight was scheduled to be 16FEB10 Delhi – Helsinki AY022.

The latest date, is now set on 01FEB10, also AY022.

On a side note, planned last MD11 service to Bangkok is now accelerated to December 2009. The last MD11 flight is set for AY096 Bangkok – Helsinki on 10DEC09
