TURKISH S10 LONG-HAUL CHANGES

As per 23OCT09 GDS timetable display, Turkish Airlines has adjusted some of its 2010 Summer long-haul schedules.  Highlights are:

  • Istanbul – Dakar service becomes terminator flight, no longer extends to Sao Paulo
    Istanbul – Osaka increase from 3 to 4 weekly
    Istanbul – Sao Paulo NONSTOP service replacing 1-stop via Dakar
    Istanbul – Tokyo Narita increase from 4 to 6 weekly

ATW: SIA A380 TO ZURICH BY FEB 2010

ATWOnline on 23OCT09 reports that Singapore Airlines plans to operate Airbus A380 aircraft on Singapore – Zurich service.  Flight to commence as early as Feb 2010, operating Daily, and replaces current 12 weekly Boeing 777-300ER service.

There has been no changes in the GDS timetable nor Singapore Airlines’ inventory display as of this post goes to press.

AIRFRANCE from 25OCT09 will cancel Paris CDG – Shannon service.  Service is operated by Cityjet

MAS TO SUSPEND RESERVATIONS FOR 13HRS

Malaysia Airlines has issued a notice to travel agents, which the airline will be upgrading to a new reservation system, estimated time is about 13 hours.  As a result, the airline is unable to accept new bookings or ticket issuance.

Planned upgrade time begins from 2300 31OCT09 to 1200 01NOV09, (GMT +8).

Changes to the reservation is also suspended during this time period.

HAPPY AIR POISED TO TAKE OFF 26OCT09

A New Thai start-up carrier is due to take off on 26OCT09.  According to report from Bangkok Post, Phuket-based Happy Airways will launch 1 Daily Phuket – Hat Yai on that day, followed by 1 Daily each on Phuket – Langkawi and Hat Yai – Langkawi on 29OCT09.

The carrier is to operate the service with Saab 340.

SGA BECOMES NOK MINI FROM DEC 09

According to Report from Bangkok Post, Thai commuter carrier SGA Airlines will rebrand into Nok Mini from 05DEC09, as part of its intensified association with Nok Air.

Nok Mini will be leasing 2 Saab 340 for starting 4 Daily Chiang Mai – Mae Hong Son and 1 Daily Chiang Mai – Udon Thani route.

SGA Airlines was established in 2001, offering 2 Daily Chiang Mai – Pai, 4 weekly Chiang Mai – Mae Hong Son and 2 Daily Chiang Mai – Chiang Rai with 12-seater Cessna 208B.  The airline code is “5E”

FRONTIER SEASONAL OKLAHOMA – FLORIDA SERVICE

Frontier Airlines is launching SEASONAL service from Oklahoma City to both Orlando (from 15JAN10) and Tampa (from 17JAN10).

FRONTIER LAUNCH LOUISVILLE & NEW ORLEANS S10

Frontier Airlines announced it’ll be launching service from Denver to Louisville from 19APR10 and to New Orleans from 15JUN10. Service operates with Airbus A319.

Southwest to launch Panama City FL May 2010

Southwest Airlines announced its intention to operate service to Northwest Florida Airport, near Panama City Florida.

Service would begin as early as May 2010, offering 8 daily round trips.

airTRAN TO LAUNCH LEXINGTON FEB 10

airTran announced it will launch service to Lexington KY from 11FEB10, with 3 weekly flights to Ft. Lauderdale from 11FEB10 and 4 to Orlando from 12FEB10.

DELTA 777-200LR ROUTES IN S10

DELTA’s planned Boeing 777-200LR routes in Summer 2010 includes:
Atlanta – Dubai
Atlanta – Johannesburg
Atlanta – Tel Aviv
Los Angeles – Sydney

On the post regarding DELTA 2010 Summer schedule posted yesterday, the following routes will actually be operated by Boeing 777-200LR, not -200ER. Those are being edited as this post goes to press:

Detroit – Hong Kong
Los Angeles – Tokyo

Seasonal increase on Atlanta – Tokyo route in Summer 2010 will also be operated by -200LR.

US AIRWAYS/GRUPO TACA TO CODESHARE

US Airways and Grupo TACA issued an application with the US DoT on 19OCT09 for codesharing.  Both plans to launch codesharing as early as 14NOV09.  Planned codeshare routes as follows:
