bmi / Air Canada codeshare update
Contrary to the post on 25AUG09, bmi didn’t remove its codeshare service operated by Air Canada. However, service between Canada and London Heathrow, is only bookable when a bmi connection flight is included.
Jin Air postpone Bangkok launch
Jin Air, Korean Air’s low-cost carrier, has postponed its Seoul Incheon – Bangkok service till 21DEC09. The flight was supposed to launch this week. On its twitter status, the airline quotes due to the “(H1N1) Flu”
SWISS codeshare with Edelweiss to Calgary/Vancouver
SWISS announced it’ll be codesharing with subsidiary Edelweiss in Summer 2010 for service on Zurich – Calgary – Vancouver – Zurich.
Service operates on Day 1 from Zurich from 31MAY10 to 14SEP10, with A330-200 (C32Y275)
China Airlines extra Delhi flight Dec/Jan
As per GDS timetable display on 28OCT09, China Airlines is operating a 4th weekly Taipei – Delhi service from 05DEC09 to 09JAN10 . Extra flight operates following schedule:

Air NZ launch South African codeshare
Air New Zealand from 01NOV09 will begin placing its “NZ” code on South African Airways’ Perth – Johannesburg and Domestic South African service. Reservation is available. SAA operated by NZ service will be loaded in the GDS later this week.

Mandarin Retires Fokker 100
Taiwan’s Mandarin Airlines on 27OCT09 operated FINAL Fokker 100 service. The final flight was from Kinmen to Taichung, AE766.
With the retirement, Mandarin Airlines now operates 8 Embraer E190.
THAI A340-600 to Dubai
THAI from 01DEC09 is to operate Airbus A340-600 aircraft on the Bangkok – Dubai service, replacing A330-300. The A340-600 features First Class service.
UNITED launches Continental codeshare 05NOV09
UNITED starting 05NOV09 will begin broad Codesharing with Continental Airlines. Initially on international service, UNITED will codeshare on ALL Continental’s Trans-Atlantic service, excluding Ireland and Greece.

bmi starting 01NOV09 will begin placing its “BD” code on Continental’s Trans-Atlantic service between the US and UK, as well as US and Belgium. Codeshare flight numbers as follows:
ASIANA to Ibaraki from Mar 2010
ASIANA AIRLINES has announced its intention to operate service to Ibaraki, about 80km (50mi) NE of Central Tokyo.
Service to begin from 11MAR10.

Continental Airlines officially becomes Star Alliance Member
Continental Airlines today (27OCT09) becomes the 25th member of The Star Alliance. (Original 3 regional members – ADRIA, Blue1 and Croatia Airlines has been converted to Full membership)
With Continental’s participation, The Star Alliance gains major access to:
- New York market through the Newark hub
- Re-gain/expanded coverage to Central and Latin America through CO’s Houston hub. (Star Alliance lost its major coverage in this region since the departure of Mexicana)
- Micronesian Islands
In total, Star Alliance now operates 3740 aircraft, employs 458332, servicing 586.6 million passengers annually. The Star Alliance now covers 1070 airports worldwide in 171 countries. Daily departure increases to 19534 and there are 954 lounges worldwide. (Data taken from Star Alliance website)

Continental / Virgin Atlantic Codeshare flight number change
Continental starting today (27OCT09) will be changing codeshare flight numbers on flights operated by Virgin Atlantic. The new flight number range is CO9675 – 9710, replacing CO8219 – 8250

Continental Airlines starting 31OCT09 will begin placing its “CO” code on selected Lufthansa Trans-Atlantic service (mainly out of Newark and Houston), as well as Domestic Germany and Intra-European service.

ETIHAD launch Japan service from Feb 10
As per 26OCT09 GDS timetable display, ETIHAD starting 01FEB10 is launching service to Nagoya. The service is an extension from existing Abu Dhabi – Beijing route. From 28MAR10, it’ll be introducing service to Tokyo Narita. Service to Tokyo is operating 5 weekly, though 1 of the 5 weekly service operates via Nagoya (which sees an increase from 4 to 5 weekly).
