MEXICANA cancel Edmonton route

MEXICANA will cancel its 3 weekly Mexico City – Edmonton route with last flight operating on 14JAN10 (YEG departure)

Air Canada launch 3 weekly Calgary – Tokyo from 27MAR10

As expected, Air Canada today announced it’ll launch 3 weekly Calgary – Tokyo Narita service from 27MAR10.  Reservation this route is now available.

Contrary to the press release, the potential prospect of a Daily service is slim due to the Star carrier only receives 15 weekly slots at Narita (extra 2 appears to be granted on case-by-case) from March 2010, unless it moves 7 weekly slots to Tokyo Haneda.  (Info here)

Arik Air launch Abuja – London Heathrow

Air Canada 10 Winter Olympics extra domestic service

As per 18NOV09 GDS timetable display, Air Canada is operating extra flights as well as increase capacity on selected domestic routes during the 2010 Winter Olympics.  Note some of the existing flights may be operated by larger aircraft on selected dates.  Other 2010 Winter Olympics related operation by Air Canada can be found here.

Malaysia retimes service to LA from JAN 10

Per GDS timetable display on 18NOV09, starting 15JAN10, Malaysia Airlines’ Eastbound service on the Kuala Lumpur – Taipei – Los Angeles is being re-scheduled.

The new schedule sees the flight leaving Kuala Lumpur in late-afternoon instead of morning, and departing Taipei in the evening instead of late-afternoon.  Schedule as follows:

Pacific Blue / V Australia Fiji codesharing

Pacific Blue from 18DEC09 will begin codesharing on V Australia’s Sydney – Nadi as it transfer this route to the latter.  V Australia to operate Daily 777-300ER on this route, but reduced to 6 weekly from 01FEB10.

Korean Air suspends Kathmandu 6 weeks in S10

Per 18NOV09 GDS timetable display, Korean Air is temporary suspending Seoul – Kathmandu service from 15MAY10 to 30JUN10.

British Airways all 777 to Toronto in S10

as per 18NOV09 GDS timetable display, British Airways plans to operate 2 Daily Boeing 777 service on the London Heathrow – Toronto route during Summer 2010 season.

In Summer 2009, service was 1 Daily 747 and 1 Daily 777

China Eastern resumes 2 routes to Hong Kong

China Eastern is resuming 2 routes between Mainland China and Hong Kong.  From 20DEC09, it’ll resume Jinan – Hong Kong and 23DEC09 with Hangzhou – Hong Kong resumption.

JAL Express to Busan and Guangzhou

JAL Express from 01JAN10 will begin to operate JAL’s Tokyo Narita – Busan JL957/958 service.  Operating aircraft remains Boeing 737-800.  Also, current 3 weekly Osaka Kansai – Guangzhou is now operating with JAL Express as well.

Cebu Pacific to start Tuguegarao – Guangzhou

Cebu Pacific appears to start 2 weekly Tuguegarao – Guangzhou service from 18NOV09 with Airbus A319. However, the airlines’ booking system is showing the flight, but no seats available. If the flight is a go-ahead, this would be Tuguegarao’s First international service.

SWISS A330-300 on Geneva – NY

SWISS from 30JAN10 is introducing the New Airbus A330-300 aircraft on the Geneva – New York JFK service, replacing -200.

A330-300 is operating Daily.

Lufthansa Mid-East/Africa S10 changes

Lufthansa starting 28MAR10 once again re-shuffle service to Middle-East and parts of Africa.

  • Service to Sana’a sees routing change via Jeddah instead of Addis Ababa.
  • Addis Ababa becomes terminator service. 5th weekly flights (Day 2) from 01MAY10.
  • Service to Khartoum becomes nonstop service with Privatair 737-800, replace one-stop via Jeddah
  • Service to Cairo becomes 2 Daily once again with Airbus A330-300
  • Tunis service increase from 7 to 10 weekly
