JAL Cargo ends all-cargo operation 30OCT10
JAL Cargo on Saturday 30OCT10 operates Final all-cargo service.
It currently operates a fleet of 747-400F and 767-300F, which will be phased out followed by the decision to end all-cargo service, as part of JAL Group’s restructuring.
It will continue cargo service by using the belly/cargo deck on passenger aircraft.
Shanghai Airlines leaves Star Alliance 31OCT10
From 31OCT10, Shanghai Airlines terminates its membership with Star Alliance, as the airline is realigning operation after the merger with parent China Eastern Airlines, which opt to join Skyteam sometimes in 2011.
From the same date, codeshare service with Air New Zealand, ANA, Lufthansa, UNITED will be terminated as well.
Jetlink launch Mwanza, Tanzania flight from Nov 2010
Kenya’s Jetlink from 15NOV10 introduces new service to Mwanza in Tanzania. The airline will be offering Daily NONSTOP service each from Nairobi and Kisumu on board CRJ200. This is also Jetlink’s first service to Tanzania.

British Airways on Saturday 30OCT10 Operates its FINAL Boeing 757 service. Per timetable display, last BA 757 flight is BA1463 Edinburgh to London Heathrow.

The oneWorld member introduced Boeing 757 aircraft in 1983. During the peak in late 1990s, it operated 54 frames.
China Airlines / Mandarin Airlines / China Southern to launch codeshare service
China Airlines, including Mandarin Airlines, has announced a codeshare deal with China Southern Airlines, which should be implemented as early as 31OCT10, subject to GDS availability loading. The codeshare service covers service between Taipei and Shanghai Pu Dong, Guangzhou, Shenzhen, Zhengzhou, Changsha and Shenyang. This blog on 01OCT10 first reported the codeshare deal, when Sabre timetable listing displayed CI coded service operated by China Southern. Air Astana replace Dubai with Abu Dhabi service from W10
Air Astana from 31OCT10 is changing its operation to the United Arab Emirates, where it will launch service to Abu Dhabi, breaking ETIHAD’s monopoly on flights between Kazakhstan and Abu Dhabi. However, service to Dubai, currently Daily from Almaty and 4 weekly from Astana, will be Canceled. In the airlines’ press release, it claims:
The change of operating airport in UAE has happened for reasons beyond the airline’s control due to restrictions imposed by Civil Aviation authorities of Dubai
Air Astana is to operate Daily Almaty – Abu Dhabi and 4 weekly Astana – Abu Dhabi, on board Airbus A320/321 aircraft.

Bulgaria Air launch Varna & Burgas – Moscow service in W10
Bulgaria Air from 30OCT10 is to introduce weekly Varna – Burgas – Moscow Sheremetyevo service, on board Boeing 737-300.
In particular, Varna – Burgas sector (Domestic Bulgaria) is to be one of the shortest flight with Boeing 737 in the world. Blocked time from Varna to Burgas is 20 minutes. (Burgas to Varna is 35 mins).

Ryanair to reduce Frankfurt Hahn Airport serivce by 30% in S11
Ryanair announced it’ll be clashing 30% of its network at Frankfurt Hahn Airport, followed by the introduction of German Goverment’s €8 tourist tax.
This translates into the loss of 1 million passengers from 27MAR11. The low-cost carrier is reducing number of aircraft based at Hahn from 11 to 8, reducing from 532 weekly flights to 382.

The following is the addendum to Spirit Airlines’ planned new routes in 2011. On 28OCT10, the blog mentioned 5 new routes from Ft. Lauderdale to be launched in May 2011. 4 of these 5 routes will be introduced progressively beginning January 2011. Lufthansa A380: W10 Beijing reduction and Johannesburg increase
As per 28OCT10 GDS timetable display, Lufthansa continues planned Airbus A380 service adjustment on Frankfurt – Beijing service.
The Star Alliance carrier is granted for operating Airbus A380 aircraft 3 times a week to the Chinese capital in the latest changes. As a result, planned 3 weekly A380 service on Frankfurt – Johannesburg service is increasing to 5 starting 13NOV10.
