Emirates 2011/2012 Initial Operation Changes: Update 2

In Sabre reservation system’s timetable search feature on 01DEC10, Emirates has loaded new changes to planned FY2011/12 operation effective 27MAR11.

AIRFRANCE launch Airbus A380 and Boeing 777-300ER service to Washington from June 2011

AIRFRANCE today announced 5th destination in its network to be served by Airbus A380 aircraft. From 06JUN11 to 05SEP11, 1 of 2 Daily Paris CDG – Washington Dulles AF028/039 service is to be operated by 4-class Airbus A380 (configuration of Premium Voyageur posted on the blog 10OCT10), replacing 777-200ER.

From 06SEP11, AIRFRANCE readjust planned capacity on this 2 daily flight, which sees the end of Boeing 777-200ER operation. A380 service is reduced to 4 weekly, the remaining 3 weekly service sees service entry of Boeing 777-300ER on regular basis for the first time

Kenya Airways W10 Update: 4 new routes launch canceled and postpone 2 routes launch

As per 30NOV10 GDS timetable and inventory display, Kenya Airways has made adjustments on 6 destinations it plans to launch (or resume). Affected destinations are N’Djamena, Pointe Noire, Jeddah, Ouagadougou, Nampula and Malindi. 4 of these destinations apparently is being canceled.

ASIANA/ETIHAD to launch codeshare service

ASIANA AIRLINES is to start codesharing with ETIHAD on the latter’s new 7 weekly Abu Dhabi – Seoul Incheon service, when it begins the service from 10DEC10.

Air Madagascar changes to Reunion / Asia operation from Apr 2011

With Air Austral plans to launch its own St Denis de la Reunion – Bangkok service, Air Madagascar is adjusting service to Bangkok and Guangzhou starting the launch of 2011 Northern Summer schedule.

1 of 2 weekly Antananarivo – St Denis de la Reunion – Bangkok – Guangzhou service starting 01APR11 will eliminate stopover at St Denis de la Reunion. Air Madagascar does not have local traffic rights between Reunion and Asia, where the rights goes to Air Austral under codeshare agreement. Although the agreement is terminating at the end of March 2011, Air Madagascar will still not be able to sell Reunion – Asia sector locally.

Air Austral to launch Bangkok scheduled service from Apr 2011; ends Air Madagascar codeshare

Subject to Government approval, Air Austral starting 02APR11 is launching its own service on St Denis de la Reunion – Bangkok regular nonstop flight on board 364-seater Boeing 777-200ER.

This route is currently served by Air Madagascar as a codeshare flight, which Air Austral will end this agreement by late-March 2011. The airline also operated several limited-time only service on this route during peak season.

Saudi Airlines Cargo launch 3 new destinations

Saudi Airlines Cargo (Saudi Arabian Airlines Cargo) has launched new service to Barcelona, where it operates service from both Jeddah and Riyadh on board Airbus A310F or 747F, total 3 times a week.

It has also launched 1 weekly Dammam – Thiruvananthapuram – Hong Kong – Jeddah routing on board Boeing 747 Freighter. From December 2010, it is launching 3 weekly MD11F service on Jeddah – Amsterdam – Riyadh – Jeddah route.

American Airlines starts codeshare with NIKI and expands airberlin cooperation

American Airlines has expanded codeshare service with the airberlin group, which now also includes Vienna-based NIKI. New codeshare routes covers between Barcelona, Milan and Germany. Codeshare routes by NIKI covers between Vienna and Switzerland, Germany, Italy and Spain.

UNI Air to launch Taichung – Ningbo; EVA Air plans Taipei – Jinan from Dec 10

UNI Air from 20DEC10 is launching 1 weekly Taichung  – Ningbo service on board MD90 aircraft. The flight operates on Mondays.  Also, parent company EVA Air as per 30NOV10 GDS timetable display has filed 1 weekly Taipei Taoyuan – Jinan service from 18DEC10 with Airbus A330-200 aircraft.

At time this post goes to press, EVA Air service to Jinan is not available for reservation. Once these routes are launched, EVA Air and UNI Air together operates 29 routes to 16 cities in China.

Brazil suspends TAM Airlines Domestic Ticket Reservation for travel until 03DEC10

Brazil’s Civil Aviation Regulator ANAC on Monday (29NOV10) suspended Domestic Brazil ticket sales/reservation of TAM Airlines, citing high record of delays and cancellation. This applies to TAM’s Domestic service for travel between 29NOV10 and 03DEC10.

Per report from Wall Street Journal filed on 29NOV10, the Star Alliance member’s domestic Brazil flight saw about 22% of flight delays over 30 minutes, 11% of service being canceled. These figures are higher than industry-wide average, which 12% of domestic flights being delayed and 5.6% being canceled.

Report filed by Reuters claims the airline canceled 13% of the domestic flights on Sunday (28NOV10) while 25% reported delays.

The ANAC hopes to avoid build up in delays. An audit is underway to probe the reason behind the higher than average delays and cancellations.

SriLankan Airlines opens reservation for new Guangzhou flight from late-Jan 2011

As per 29NOV10 GDS inventory display, SriLankan Airlines has officially open the reservation for its new service to Guangzhou, which the carrier is to start 3 weekly Colombo – Bangkok – Guangzhou service, effective 28JAN11 with Airbus A330-200/340-300 aircraft.

Bangkok at the same time is increasing from 10 to 13 weekly.

Hong Kong Airlines postpone A330 Shanghai Pu Dong service till mid-Jan 2011

As per 29NOV10 GDS timetable display, Hong Kong Airlines has postponed planned Airbus A330-200 aircraft service on Hong Kong – Shanghai Pu Dong service. The new introduction date is scheduled from 20JAN11, roughly 6 weeks later than planned, which replaces current Hong Kong Express’ Daily 737 service
