The following is the miscellaneous route changes as of 01MAR11. As always these are subject to change:

ROUTES

  • Allegiant Air from 19MAY11 is offering seasonal 2 weekly Shreveport – Orlando Sanford service
  • Continental Airlines is suspending planned service launch on Newark – Cairo route, due to start from 18MAY11. There are no words on the new launch date. On 28FEB11′s post of  UNITED-Continental Summer 2011 International Operation, this has been modified
  • Korean low-cost carrier EastarJet from 27MAR11 converts Seoul Incheon – Sapporo Chitose 4 weekly service from scheduled CHARTER to REGULAR flight. The airline currently operates service twice weekly, and records an overage of 90% load factor
  • flyBe from 19MAY11 to 25SEP11 is launching 5 weekly Manchester – Derry/Londonderry service
  • Reported by EX-YU Aviation News site, Montenegro Airlines on 23FEB11 suspended Podgorica – Pristina and Podgorica – Skopje service due to failure of payment to the airport
  • Turkish Airlines from 27MAY11 is to launch 4 weekly Istanbul Ataturk – Thessaloniki route. The Star Alliance member has published the schedule on its website but not available for reservation
  • WingsAir, regional unit of Indonesia’s Lion Air, plans to operate Daily Denpasar – Malang domestic service

CODESHARE

  • American Airlines and QANTAS issued a notice to the DoT last week that AA intends to carry QANTAS’ “QF” code between Dallas and Cancun, Guadalajara, Mexico City, Monterrey and Puerto  Vallarta, effective 16MAY11
  • American Airlines and WestJet has concluded reciprocal codeshare and FFP deal. Initially WestJet will codeshare on AA service to Boston and Chicago. AA in return will gain access to 20 Canadian cities, which the airline used to serve through codeshare deal with now-defunct Canadian Airlines International until 2000

GDS Avilability/Inventory Display Updates

  • Air India over the weekend (26-27FEB11) has completed its long-awaited “AI” and “IC” (former Indian Airlines) code integration, which is the major obstacle of Air India’s entry to Star Alliance, due incompatible system used by AI and IC. A list of the new flight number was posted on this site on 07FEB11.

Bilateral

  • Japan and Malaysia last week concluded revised bilateral deal which sees full open-skies, including Tokyo, by Summer 2013. Restrictions for flights to/from Tokyo Narita will be removed when annual slots increases to 270,000 per year. Restrictions of 5th freedom rights beyond respective country also removed
