bmi continues A330 operation to Freetown, Sierra Leone in W11

As per 23MAY11 GDS timetable display, bmi (british midland international) is continuing 3 weekly Airbus A330-200 operation on London Heathrow – Freetown service into Winter 2011/12 season, effective 30OCT11.

Previously GDS display was showing 4 weekly 1-stop Airbus A321 service. The Star Alliance member is poised to introduce A330 service on this route from 26JUN11, previously reported on this site.

Alitalia increasing Rome – Los Angeles to Daily from Jul to Sep 2011

Alitalia is further increasing planned Rome – Los Angeles service in Summer 2011 season. Starting 03JUN11, the Skyteam member is adding 6th weekly service (previously mentioned on this site on 31JAN11). From 05JUL11 to 02OCT11, it’ll offer Daily service on this route.

Service reduce to 4 weekly from non-peak season travel from October 2011.

QATAR Airways to start 2nd Daily Jeddah service from mid-Jun 2011

QATAR Airways starting 15JUN11 is adding 2nd Daily Doha – Jeddah service, which sees Airbus A320 aircraft operating night-time/red-eye service.

The airline currently operates Boeing 777-300ER aircraft during daytime.

AIRFRANCE W11 Reduction to Cairo and Mexico City

First reported exclusively on this site on 19MAY11, AIRFRANCE in Winter 2011/12 season is reducing operation on Paris CDG – Mexico City route.

From 30OCT11, the Skyteam member operates 1 Daily Boeing 747-400 aircraft, instead of 2 Daily Boeing 777-200ER. With the change, First Class(La Premiere) and Premium Voyageur class service will not be offered.

Separately, Paris CDG – Cairo service in Winter 2011/12 continues service reduction, which it’ll continue to offer Daily service instead of 10 weekly.

As per 23MAY11 GDS timetable display, ASIANA AIRLINES and EVA Air starting 01JUN11 to begin codeshare service on Seoul Incheon – Taipei Taoyuan route.

ASIANA operates 9 weekly while EVA operates Daily on this route for the moment.

Skyteam member AeroMexico starting 15JUN11 is launching Daily Mexico City – Huatulco and from 15SEP11 begins Daily Mexico City – Panama City.

Aerosvit to launch Kiev – Hong Kong service in W11

As per 23MAY11 GDS timetable and inventory display, Ukraine’s Aerosvit starting 30OCT11 launches its 3rd long-haul destination for Winter 2011 season, where it’ll begin 3 weekly Kiev – Hong Kong service.

Boeing 767-300ER aircraft operates this service, becoming the First Eastern European carrier (excluding Russia) offering nonstop service to Hong Kong.

AIRFRANCE operational aircraft change to Atlanta from mid-Jul 2011

From 18JUL11 to 29OCT11, AIRFRANCE is changing operational aircraft on 1 of 2 Daily Paris CDG – Atlanta service. AF680/683 will see 3-class A340-300 (J30W21Y224) operating instead of 777-200ER (P4J49W24Y170).

This results in minor increase of capacity by extra 28 seats per day per direction.

Lufthansa plans W11 Munich – Cairo Capacity Increase

Lufthansa starting 30OCT11 is introducing Airbus A321 (C38Y147) aircraft on Munich – Cairo service, which replaces PrivatAir Boeing 737-800 (C32Y60) aircraft.

Overall frequency will also be reduced from 4 to 3 weekly. However, overall capacity will see increase with 555 weekly seats (one-way) offered, compared to current 368 per week.
