As per 30JAN12 GDS inventory display, American Airlines is postponing planned seasonal service resumption on Chicago – Helsinki and New York JFK – Budapest route.
Planned service resumption for both routes are scheduled from 14JUN12 (15JUN12 from Europe).

American Airlines from 03APR12 is cancelling service to Halifax, where it currently operates twice daily flights on New York JFK – Halifax route.

American Airlines starting 01JUN12 is cancelling New York JFK – Tokyo Narita route, on the same day as it resumes New York JFK – Tokyo Haneda service. Joint-venture partner JAL will continue to offer Tokyo Narita – New York JFK on daily basis.
AA in early-September 2011 suspended New York JFK – Tokyo Haneda service due to tough market condition. Prior to suspension, the it operated Daily to Tokyo Haneda and 6 weekly to Narita.

As per 30JAN12 GDS timetable and inventory display, Emirates from 01JUL12 is switching operational aircraft on Dubai – Dublin service from Airbus A330-200 to Boeing 777-300ER.
The 777-300ER aircraft features First Class suite.

Starting 25MAR12, Royal Brunei is increasing operation to Melbourne, with Daily service on Bandar Seri Begawan – Melbourne routing, on board Boeing 777-200ER aircraft.
The airline currently offers 4 weekly service.

Gulf Air from 01MAR12 is expanding operation in Saudi Arabia, with Bahrain – Jeddah service increasing from 10 to 14 weekly and Bahrain – Riyadh increasing from 14 to 21 weekly.
With the service increase, Gulf Air becomes the only Asian as well as Arab carrier to operate 21 weekly flights to Riyadh, and 4th carrier operating 14 weekly to Jeddah.

As per 30JAN12 GDS inventory display, QATAR Airways starting 25MAR12 is cancelling service to Cebu, where it currently operates 3 times a week on Doha – Cebu routing, on board Airbus A330-200/-300.
The airline has closed the reservation for travel on/after 25MAR12.

The following is a quick report of THAI Airways International’s Airbus A340-500 operation between 2005 and 2012, as the airline is scheduling Final SCHEDULED operation on 29APR12, as per 30JAN12 GDS timetable and inventory display.
Note there is a possibility that the Star Alliance member may assign A340-500 aircraft on scheduled basis on selected routes, or operating as substitution aircraft on/after 01MAY12, the following report gives an overview of the ultra long-haul aircraft’s operation with the carrier.

Korean Air starting 04MAY12 is increasing Seoul Incheon – Da Nang service from 2 to 4 weekly, new flights operated by Boeing 737-800 aircraft. The Skyteam member introduced this route in January 2012.

As per 27JAN12 GDS timetable and inventory display, Alitalia from 20OCT12 to 15DEC12 is to operate Airbus A330-200 aircraft on Rome – Toronto service, replacing Boeing 767-300ER aircraft.
Operational frequencies varies from 4 to 6 weekly during this period.

As per 27JAN12 GDS timetable and inventory display, Virgin Atlantic’s initial operation changes for Winter 2012/13 season, effective 28OCT12, as follows.
Note the airline is selling 4 of its 19 Airbus A340-600 aircraft, which will be removed from service by Oct 2012. The sale is to be handled by Airbus. Changes listed below already appeared in the GDS as early as late-Dec 2011, but Airline Route was unable to determine whether it was related to the sale of A340-600 aircraft.

Germain regional carrier OLT plans to start Dresden – Zurich service from 01FEB12, with 3 Daily flights on weekdays, and 1 flight only on Sunday. Reservation is currently not available for the moment.
Saab 2000 aircraft operates this route. Note for the moment the airline is currently loading 1 flight per day on weekdays for flights on/after 25MAR12 in the timetable listing in Amadeus. In addition, there appears to be schedule discrepancies on return flight from Zurich, which shows 2 Daily flights.

As per 27JAN12 GDS timetable and inventory display, Philippine Airlines in Summer 2012 season continues its service to Delhi. The airline will continue to operate 3 weekly Manila – Bangkok – Delhi, while planned service resumption on Manila – Delhi sector is cancelled.

As per 27JAN12 GDS timetable and inventory display, KLM in Northern Winter 2012/13 plans to operate Boeing 777-300ER aircraft on Amsterdam – Cape Town service. The 777-300ER is currently scheduled to operate 3 times a week.

Starting 03MAY12, Korean Air is splitting its operation on Seoul Incheon – Madrid – Amsterdam – Seoul Incheon 3 weekly service.
Service to Amsterdam is to operate nonstop in both direction 3 times a week, with Airbus A330-300. 3 weekly Madrid operation remains unchanged except operating nonstop on inbound flight as well, on board Boeing 777-200ER aircraft.

Oman Air from 25MAR12 is increasing service to Zanzibar from 3 weekly to 5 weekly, which continues to Dar es Salaam. Overall service to Dar es Salaam remains Daily, although nonstop in both direction will operate twice weekly instead of four.

ETIHAD and Air Seychlles on Thursday (26JAN12) has launched reciprocal codeshare service. In early stage, Air Seychelles is placing its “HM” code on ETIHAD service between Abu Dhabi and Seychelles. ETIHAD’s “EY” code is placed on Air Seychelles’ 15-minute Seychelles – Praslin flight.

germanwings from 20JUN12 is launching 2 weekly Berlin – Rijeka service, on board Airbus A319 aircraft. This new seasonal service operates until 31AUG12.

As per 27JAN12 GDS Inventory display, SriLankan Airlines has updated planned operation to London Heathrow service for Summer 2012 season.
From 25MAR12 to 14JUL12 and from 03SEP12 to 27OCT12, service reduces from 12 weekly to Daily. The airline will maintain 12 weekly frequencies between 15JUL12 and 02SEP12. Reservation is now open for the additional flights (UL505/506)
The airline in S12 is also cancelling Colombo – Male – London Heathrow 4 weekly service, previously reported on this site.
