Norfolk Air Ceases Operation on 26FEB12

Norfolk Island Government-owned carrier Norfolk Air on 26FEB12 will end its operation as the Government has decided to pull its plug in the airline business. Air traffic service between Norfolk Island and Mainland Australia is unaffected as Air New Zealand will become the sole operator between the two, starting 02MAR12 (See report on 26DEC11).

Norfolk Air’s last flight is on 26MAR12, N5334 Norfolk – Brisbane route. The airline launched operation in May 2006.

The Norfolk Island government will be exiting the airline business and it has now
been officially announced that the new operator from the Australian mainland to
Norfolk Island will be ‘Air New Zealand’ (Air NZ). Air NZ will commence their services
on the 2
nd
March 2012 and Norfolk Air will operate its last service, flight 334
NLK/BNE on Sunday 26 February 2012.
