Malaysia Airlines began using flight number MH17 for Amsterdam service from December 1989 to October 1990, with 1 weekly Amsterdam – Istanbul – Dubai – Kuala Lumpur DC10 operation. MH17 was re-introduced in August 1998 for 3 weekly nonstop flights at the time.

KLM Royal Dutch Airlines, which codeshares on this flight as KL4103, plans to change to KL4123 from 25JUL14 as well. This has been reflected in the GDS timetable listing, however actual reservation continues to display KL4103. This is expected to be removed in the next few days.
