Hainan Airlines / ETIHAD Starts Unilateral Codeshare Service

Hainan Airlines and ETIHAD this week kicks off codeshare operation. Initially the codeshare service is unilateral, as Hainan is placing its “HU” code on ETIHAD’s service between China and Abu Dhabi, as well as between Abu Dhabi and Sudan.

Emirates A380 Operation Changes in March / April 2012

As per 28FEB12 GDS timetable and inventory display, Emirates has re-assigned A380 operation for Johannesburg, London Heathrow, Rome and Seoul Incheon service. The airline is conducting checks for wing cracks on the Super Jumbo, after European aviation safety rules stepping required checks.
Most of the changes were already in effect since the week of 08FEB12, which this site did not cover.

Hong Kong Airlines to Inaugurate Hong Kong – Taipei with All-Business Class A330 on 01MAR12

As per 27FEB12 GDS Inventory display, Hong Kong Airlines on 01MAR12 is launching Hong Kong – Taipei Taoyuan service.
On the inaugural flight, HX280/281, the airline is operating all-Business Class Airbus A330-200 aircraft for one-time only. Passengers on this flight will be experiencing the all-Business Class cabin service, prior to the airline’s debut to London Gatwick on 07MAR12.

Note all information listed below is as of 22JAN12. Due to the delay of this presentation report, it includes Spanair and MAEV Hungarian Airlines. In this edition, Chinese domestic codeshare routes are also listed. Although this is the updated edition, however some codeshare partnerships and selected routes may be outdated, or not included.
The next edition is scheduled for April 2012. Note starting 26FEB12, Airline Route will be including latest summary codeshare partnership and route updates in one post on regular basis. Pending on significance, this site will specifically report them on separate post, same as before.

Norfolk Air Ceases Operation on 26FEB12

Norfolk Island Government-owned carrier Norfolk Air on 26FEB12 will end its operation as the Government has decided to pull its plug in the airline business. Air traffic service between Norfolk Island and Mainland Australia is unaffected as Air New Zealand will become the sole operator between the two, starting 02MAR12 (See report on 26DEC11).
Norfolk Air’s last flight is on 26MAR12, N5334 Norfolk – Brisbane route. The airline launched operation in May 2006.

Rwandair Shelves Planned Service Increase to Johannesburg due Mar 2012

As of 22FEB12, Rwandair has shelved the plan to increase Kigali – Johannesburg service from 4 weekly to Daily. Service increase was originally due to start from 01MAR12, but this is no longer the case.

Hong Kong Airlines starting 01MAR12 is re-assigning Airbus A320 operation, which will shift from China operation to Singapore. The airline will operate Hong Kong – Singapore service exclusively with Airbus A320 aircraft.
The A320 is currently scheduled to operate until 24MAR12 for the moment.

Emirates Seattle / Houston Capacity Swap from Mar 2012

As per 21FEB12 GDS timetable and inventory display, Emirates is shrinking planned capacity on Dubai – Seattle route, due to start from 01MAR12.
From 01MAR12 to 03MAR12, the airline is operating Boeing 777-300ER (P12J42Y304) aircraft as planned. However, starting 04MAR12 this route will be operated by 777-200LR (P8J42Y236) instead. This results in the loss of 72 seats per day per direction. The 777-300ER aircraft planned for this route will then operate 1 Daily Dubai – Houston service.
