COPA to launch Brasilia service from mid-Jun 2011 & Montevideo service change

COPA from 18JUN11 is introducing 4 weekly Panama City – Brasilia route, offering nonstop service between Brazil and Panama’s capital.

Brasilia is COPA’s 4th destination overall (and 2nd in Brazil) to be launched in Northern Summer 2011 season, operated by Boeing 737-700 aircraft. COPA in June 2011 launches Porto Alegre and Toronto, as well as Nassau.

COPA Colombia postpone Havana launch till Dec 2010

As per 19NOV10 GDS timetable display, COPA Airlines Colombia (formerly known as AeroRepublica) appears to have postponed the launch of Bogota – Havana service until 12DEC10. The route was supposed to be introduced back in October 2010.

The airline remains 1 weekly operation plan with Embraer ERJ190 aircraft.

COPA Northern Winter 2010 Operation Changes: Update 1

COPA increase Bolivia service

COPA in Northern Summer 2010 season is gradually increasing Panama City – Santa Cruz (Bolivia) service from 3 to 5 weekly.

From 29MAR10, service operates on Day x246 from PTY (from Day 357). From 01JUL10, service operates on Day x26. Same route in S09 season operated 4 weekly flights.

CONTINENTAL / COPA LEAVES SKYTEAM 24OCT09

Continental and COPA Airlines on 24OCT09 (Saturday) will terminate its participation in Skyteam Alliance. Continental from 27OCT09 will join Star Alliance while COPA remains independent for the time being.

Continental’s remaining codeshare agreement will come to an end on 24OCT09. Co-operation with Star Alliance, in particular codeshare agreement, will go into effect on 27OCT09. Reservations and ticketing should be available by that date.

COPA, however, will retain its current codeshare agreement with Skyteam member KLM. On a side note, posts under Continental starting 27OCT09, will no longer be categorized under Skyteam, but will be under Star Alliance in this blog.
