Singapore Airlines Plans Limited-time Busan & Sapporo service in W11
Singapore Airlines in Winter 2011 season is offering limited-period service on Singapore – Busan and Singapore – Sapporo service.
Service to Sapporo operates from 26NOV11 to 18DEC11 and Busan service operates from 25DEC11 to 22JAN12. Both routes to be operated by Boeing 777-200 twice weekly each.

Singapore Airlines plans All-Upper Deck Business Class A380 to London/Zurich from Oct 2011
Per seat map listing in the GDS, Singapore Airlines is introducing Low-Density Airbus A380 service to London Heathrow and Zurich.
The Low-Density Airbus A380, configured in 409 seats, features all-upper deck Business Class service (A8E), but leads to capacity reduction, loss of 62 seats per flight per direction.

Singapore Airlines W11 Operation Changes: Update as of 03AUG11
As per 03AUG11 GDS timetable and inventory display, Singapore Airlines continues to re-adjust its planned operation for Winter 2011/12 season, effective 30OCT11.
Latest changes sees the cancellation of Airbus A380 service to Melbourne and planned Boeing 747-400 service to Hong Kong. With A380 service to Melbourne currently being replaced by Boeing 777-300 by mid-Jan 2012, it is likely that the Star Alliance member is poised to announce new A380 route soon, unless the airline reverse its decision in coming days.

Singapore Airlines from 15SEP11 to 29OCT11 is adding 8th Daily flight on temporary basis on Singapore – Jakarta route.
The new flight operates as the first flight from Singapore at 0600hrs and 2nd flight from Jakarta at 0800hrs.

Singapore Airlines Reduces planned Osaka Operation in W11
As per 20JUL11 GDS timetable and inventory display, Singapore Airlines is reducing planned Singapore – Osaka Kansai service from 14 to 11 weekly for Winter 2011/12 season, effective 30OCT11.
Planned service increase from 10 to 14 weekly on this route was originally planned from 27MAR11, but was postponed till 30OCT11 due to March Earthquake. The Star Alliance carrier is now scaling back the increase back to just 11 weekly. Despite this remains an overall year-on-year increase, but still considered a reduction.

Singapore Airlines/Transaero launch Bilateral Codeshare service from Aug 2011
Singapore Airlines and Transaero starting 01AUG11 will begin codeshare service. In addition to Singapore – Moscow service, reported last week on 12JUL11, the codeshare service will be bilateral, with Transaero placing “UN” code on Singapore – Moscow Domodedovo – Houston by SIA, and SIA placing its “SQ” code on selected Domestic Russian routes by Transaero.

Transaero starting 01AUG11 will begin unilateral codeshare service with Singapore Airlines, initially on Moscow Domodedovo – Singapore service.
Transaero plans to codeshare on SIA’s Moscow Domodedovo – Houston route at later date, subject to Government approval.

As per 30JUN11 GDS timetable display, Singapore Airlines is extending service reduction on Singapore – Los Angeles NONSTOP service on board Airbus A340-500 aircraft.
The Star Alliance member is extending service cut from Daily to 5 weekly until the end of Summer schedule on 29OCT11, except August 2011. Previously the carrier planned to operate Daily service from 26JUL11.

Singapore Airlines/brussels airlines to start codeshare service
Starting 24JUN11, Singapore Airlines will begin placing its “SQ” code on selected brussels airlines’ service between selected European destinations and Brussels.
brussels airlines is SQ’s 18th codeshare partner. At time this post goes to press, only SQ operated by brussels is loaded in the GDS.

As per 16JUN11 GDS timetable and inventory display, Singapore Airlines continues to extend service cut on Singapore – Tokyo Haneda service.
2nd Daily SQ636/635 service, due to resume from 01SEP11, once again postponed till 30OCT11, meaning this route sees 1 Daily service for the rest of Summer 2011 season.

ASIANA AIRLINES expands codeshare service with Singapore Airlines to 3 Continents
Star Alliance member ASIANA AIRLINES beginning this month (June 2011) expands codeshare service on flights operated by Singapore Airlines, which codeshare coverage spans 3 continents – Africa, Asia and Oceania.
ASIANA’s “OZ” code effective immediately is now appearing on SIA service to Auckland, Cape Town, Jakarta and Perth.

Silk Air to launch Kolkata service from August 2011
Silk Air today (09JUN11) announced it’ll launch 4 weekly Singapore – Kolkata, becoming the airline’s 7th destination in India. This is in addition to existing service operated by Singapore Airlines, which will reduce its service from 4 to 3 weekly.
Service on Mondays will transfer to Silk Air.
