Edelweiss Air Boosts Planned Summer service to Tokyo Jun – Sep 2012
Update at 0700GMT 19JAN12
As per 19JAN12 GDS timetable and inventory display, Edelweiss Air is increasing planned Summer operation on Zurich – Tokyo Narita service. The airline plans to start the service once a week, however this will now increase to twice a week.
SWISS’ “LX” code will appear on these flights, which overall service will stand at 9 weekly.

SWISS Beijing Operation Changes from Feb 2012
Update at 0720GMT 09JAN12
As per 09JAN12 GDS timetable and inventory display, SWISS has adjusted its operation for Zurich – Beijing service, due to begin on 11FEB12.
It appears that the Star Alliance member has received early-morning time slot in Beijing, instead of planned late-morning/noon hours slot, which leads to operational schedule change. Further, on selected periods, the airline is operating at reduced service instead of Daily.

SWISS Chicago Jul/Aug 2012 Operational Aircraft Changes
Update at 0820GMT 04JAN12
As per 04JAN12 GDS timetable and inventory display, SWISS is changing operational aircraft on Zurich – Chicago service during the month of July and August 2012.
Planned seasonal service increase from Daily to 11 weekly from 07JUN12, reported on 07DEC11. However, in July and August 2012, Airbus A340-300 is replacing A330-300 on selected service.

SWISS to Add 4th Daily Zurich – Prague Service in S12

SWISS in Summer 2012 season is introducing 4th Daily service on Zurich – Prague route, which offers new late-night departure from Zurich, early-morning from Prague.
Also, all services to Prague in S12 is operated by Helvetic Airways aircraft.

Since the launch of Winter 2011 season, SWISS has tookover bmi’s Basel – Manchester service, operating 6 times a week with Avro RJ100 aircraft. bmi codeshares on this route.

SWISS Transferring Cameroon service to brussels airlines in S12; Kinshasa service Changes
Update at 1125GMT 08NOV11
As per 08NOV11 GDS timetable display, SWISS from 25MAR12 is cancelling service to Cameroon, where it currently operates 3 weekly Zurich – Douala – Yaounde service. Lufthansa Group carrier brussels airlines will pick up the market void by increasing its own service. This marks the end of SWISS service to West Africa.
The airline will be operating 6 weekly Brussels – Douala – Yaounde and 1 weekly Brussels – Douala (extends to Kinshasa) service, on board Airbus A330-300 aircraft. Accompanied by overall service adjustments to Cameroon, brussels airlines will be adjusting service to Kinshasa, the capital of Democratic Republic of the Congo.

Edelweiss Air Plans Summer-only Service to Tokyo in 2012

As per 21OCT11 GDS timetable display, Edelweiss Air in Summer 2012 season plans to offer Zurich – Tokyo Narita service, from 26MAY12 to 22SEP12. The Swiss carrier originally planned to offer this route in Summer 2011, but was cancelled due after March Earthquake.

Berlin Brandenburg Airport to Enter Operation on 03JUN12
As per 16SEP11 GDS timetable and inventory display, Berlin Brandenburg Airport is currently scheduled to enter operation on Sunday 03JUN12.
For the moment, airBaltic, Austrian, Lufthansa, Spanair and SWISS will move all of its operation from Berlin Tegel (TXL) to Berlin Brandenburg (BER), as these carriers has updated schedule listing in GDS.

Edelweiss Air Increasing Seasonal Vancouver Service from Jul 2012
Edelweiss Air in Summer 2012 season is increasing seasonal service to Vancouver from 2 to 3 weekly. Frequency increase is planned from 01JUL12.
With the new increase, there will be 2 weekly nonstop service and 1 weekly via Calgary on outbound flight.
